It's time for the Ravens' Father/Son charity basketball game and Dan is way too eager to get back on the court. Lucas asks Keith to play with him and he accepts, looking a bit surprised and honored at the same time. When Keith finds out Lucas is thinking about changing his last name - thanks to Dan's not-so-uplifting speech - Keith invites him to think it over carefully. And so does Karen. "It's just a name, Luke. What you do with it is up to you."

Meanwhile, Nathan wants Peyton back but, at the moment, she is a bit distracted: actually she is spending a lot of hours in her car, speeding through red lights. As she explains to Lucas, it's all about her mother, who died in a car accident when Peyton was little. "My mom ran one red light. I run them all the time and nothing happens. It's not fair".

Haley confesses to Lucas she had decided to tutor his half-brother because this was the only way to convince Nathan to leave him alone. Lucas understands her motivation but when he sees Haley and Nathan hugging, he can't help but feel betrayed.

Meanwhile, Peyton is also feeling down. Surprisingly, it is Coach Whitey who offers the most comfort. He knows the pain she is experiencing, since he lost his wife. Later, Peyton and Lucas meet up and he tells her that he wishes he could change what happened to her mom. Even if Peyton seems - almost - touched by his words, she continues her creepy red-light experiments, endangering herself over and over again.

The "Father and Son" basketball game begins and the elder team doesn't play that well. Dan cannot stand that age has softened his edge and ends up pushing Nathan to the ground, publicly humiliating him in front of the whole crowd. After that, Lucas can't help but realize that he's lucky to have Keith's attachment: he decides not to give up the Scott name since Keith also carries it.

The game is done and Peyton shows up. Nathan is happy to see her but she lets him know she didn't come for him. In that moment, Lucas walks out the door. The three of them look at each other until Peyton walks away.

In the last scene Peyton sits in her car, waiting for the green light. Metaphorically, as soon as she starts driving, all the lights are finally green.
